Location: Wyoming, PA
Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000 based on experience

Position Summary
The Director of Development is a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of a comprehensive fundraising program to advance the mission, visibility, and financial sustainability of the Luzerne County Historical Society. This role focuses on major gift cultivation, annual giving, donor relations, corporate sponsorships, grants, special events, and communications.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development:
Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy with specific goals and benchmarks, that may include complex and multifaceted giving campaigns.
Manage individual giving, including major donors, annual appeals, planned giving, and donor stewardship.
Research, write, and manage grant applications and reports for foundation, government, and corporate support.
Develop and execute corporate sponsorship strategies and donor recognition programs.
Work closely with the Board of Directors and Development Committee to cultivate relationships and support fundraising initiatives.
Communications:
Assist with the organization’s marketing and communications strategy to promote programs, events, and mission.
Assist with the design, production, and distribution of marketing materials, press releases, newsletters, and e-communications.
Assist the organization’s website and social media presence to engage supporters and attract new audiences.
Special Events:
Assist with planning and executing major fundraising events, donor receptions, and community engagement events.
Secure sponsorships, in-kind donations, and partners for events.
Data & Reporting:
Maintain accurate donor records using CRM/donor database.
Track development metrics and prepare reports as required.
Analyze campaign effectiveness and adjust strategies accordingly.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in fundraising.
Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in fundraising CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite; graphic design or content management system experience a plus.
Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree or CFRE a plus.
Knowledge of local philanthropic landscape and donor community.
Experience working with boards and volunteer committees.
Creative mindset with a strategic approach to engagement and storytelling.
