Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to play a pivotal leadership role in our engineering and manufacturing operations. In this dual technical and supervisory role, you will collaborate directly with company ownership to quote new work, analyze customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and manage projects from concept through shop-floor execution, while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quoting & Job Bidding: Partner directly with the company owner to review incoming customer RFPs, blueprints, 3D CAD models, and part specifications to generate accurate cost estimates, cycle time evaluations, and competitive sales quotes.

  • Team Management & Mentorship: Oversee, guide, and manage two junior mechanical engineers, directing their day-to-day engineering deliverables, technical development, and project assignments.

  • NC Programming & Process Planning: Develop numeric control (NC) programs for multi-axis CNC machine tools, establishing optimal machining sequences, feeds, and speeds from raw stock to finished components.

  • Fixture & Tooling Design: Design production workholding fixtures and quality checking/inspection fixtures required for precise manufacturing.

  • Shop-Floor Operations Support: Work closely with CNC machine operators and detail operators to troubleshoot processes, refine setup operations, and ensure cost-effective production.

  • Tooling Procurement Support: Prepare and provide comprehensive cutter lists to ensure all necessary cutting tools, holders, and inserts are secured prior to production runs.

  • Technical Project Management: Manage aerospace and industrial job progress to guarantee strict adherence to customer delivery schedules, quality specifications, and cost targets.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, OR equivalent hands-on precision machining and CNC engineering experience.

  • Experience: Proven experience in precision machining, aerospace manufacturing, or job shop environments.

  • Technical & Machine Control Skills:

    • Hands-on familiarity and comfort working with FANUC, Fagor, and Siemens controls.

    • Strong proficiency in NC programming and CAD/CAM software.

    • In-depth expertise reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and 3D CAD models.

    • Proven skill in mechanical fixture design and cutting tool selection for aerospace alloys and industrial materials.

  • Estimating & Quoting Ability: Experience analyzing RFPs, estimating machining cycle times, material costs, and tooling needs for new job bidding.

  • Leadership & Soft Skills: Strong project management, clear communication, and leadership skills to mentor junior engineering talent effectively.

Commpensation

  • Starting salary range of $70,000 - $100,000/yr., DOE

  • 401k – eligible after 1 year of service

  • 401k match up to 4%
